When it comes to marketing operations, the best way to support your organization’s website is by finding the right web host. With more web hosting in the cloud these days, knowing which host to select can certainly be time consuming.
In choosing which provider delivers the best benefits for your website infrastructure, there can be multiple different kinds of similar hosting options depending on which service you chose. We examine the most common cloud web hosting options and how they’re different: Managed Cloud and Unmanaged Cloud.
Managed Cloud
Higher in monthly web hosting price, lower in overall budget costs.
If you chose this option, the host provider serves as an extension of your IT department without having a need to hire a team to support your website infrastructure. It doesn’t replace your IT but instead takes the burden off of you in providing the infrastructure to support your website and keeps it on a private server.
You can also get any problems with performance and site accessibility resolved quickly. Additional cyber security threats and other security issues can be monitored as well 24/7 without you haven’t to spend too much time getting your organization’s website back up.
Unmanaged Cloud
Lower in monthly web hosting price, higher in overall budget costs.
What this means in a nutshell is that while core cloud hosting abilities are similar as managed cloud, you as a customer own your website infrastructure team. You rent the infrastructure but are responsible for providing the staff to oversee it along with the applications and tools to go with it.
You pay-as-you-go to the web host based on the amount of data you use.
Which is Better?
It all boils down to your organization’s bandwidth and budget. No cloud hosting option is necessarily superior to the other but just be aware that in the end, your main goal is to ensure your customers are able access your website and that you can do business accordingly.
We always recommend being thorough in your vendor analysis. The good news is that there are many web hosting businesses and many of which offer cloud options that can be affordable and accommodating for your needs.
